Jamaica pulled off an upset when Kemar Lawrence plunked an 86th-minute free kick into the back of Mexico’s net. In the 2015 Gold Cup, the Reggae Boyz defeated the Yanks 2-1 in the semi-final.

The deal would have started in 2023 after the MLS’s current media deal with Fox, ESPN, and Univision. MLS spokesperson Dan Courtemanche said that MLS is not contractually allowed to negotiate with MP and Silva, in a statement to ESPN.
