After Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl tweeted out the interest from a cryptic Minnesota investor, some Minnesota soccer fans began to wonder if the women’s team would be joining the new MLS team in the state. Previously, Minnesota United FC owner Dr. Bill McGuire has skated around the idea of a future women’s team as he has been focusing on securing United’s future in MLS. However, Minnesotans may have to wait a little longer to see professional women’s soccer in our state.
“I have no intention to move the club.”
Baer insists, though: “I have no intention to move the club.” Since talks with the league are on-going he did not want to go into any details, but hopes to have resolution in the coming weeks.
Elam Baer is the founder and CEO of North Central Equity in Minneapolis.
Cat Parkhill, from Apple Valley, MN, plays for FC Kansas City.
