I’m not expecting the Loons to score today.

This result, besides being glorious, should have been less of a surprise than it was, including to me. Last year the Loons and Sporks played a very even match in Blaine that was decided by the best player on the pitch that night, Benny Feilhaber, who’s killer through ball led to the winning goal. From the lineups that night the Loons upgraded in 8 positions and the Sporks brought Besler and Melia back in.

The fact that it was surprising is reminder of the powerful parity of MLS. Pre-game, we perceived SKC as a top team. True, but top teams aren’t that much better than bottom teams.

I think SKC resting several key defenders didn’t help them much. Perhaps they underestimated the Loons offense?

when we have to fast players that can make plays, it spreads the field and it causes tension for the defense. we created good pressure but we also use that speed on give and go’s and overlaps. Thiesson and Migue are making that work.
