Tournament of Nations to be held this summer
The US Soccer Federation announced a new tournament to be played each summer there is not a World Cup or Olympic Games. The “Tournament of Nations” will be played round-robin and the winner will be determined by points. This summer, the US will host Australia, Brazil, and Japan. The women’s national teams will play three double-header games July 27-Aug. 3 in Seattle, San Diego, and finally in Carson, Calif.
Ben Grossman featured on the Mutant Gene Podcast
Fox’s Alexi Lalas interviewed a Minnesotan most Loons fans don’t know, but they should. Ben Grossman consults for Fox Sports, but he’s also a minority investor in Minnesota United. In the interview, Grossman tells Lalas about his path through the world of soccer. His experience includes PR work for both Crystal Palace PR and the Colorado Rapids, and helping produce World Cup television for Fox.
NASL expands to Orange County
The San Francisco Deltas will have neighbors in 2018 when a new team in Orange County joins the NASL as an expansion team. The team doesn’t yet have a name, but does have a place to play: the stadium of California State University, Fullerton.
