    Abu’s strike up for GOTW

    Abu Danladi’s game-winning screamer of a goal is up for MLS Goal of the Week. It was the rookie’s sixth goal of the season and his first that has been nominated for GOTW. Voting is open until September 21st.

    And here’s the goal so you and I can watch it a few dozen more times.

    Heaps out of New England

    Sources have told Ives Galarcep of Goal.com that Jay Heaps has been let go by New England. This is coming off a particularly bad week for the Revolution. Midweek they were trounced by Atlanta 7-0 and on the weekend they lost to Sporting Kansas City 3-1. In both matches, New England had players sent off. As of this writing, nothing has been confirmed by the team.

      “NEE – next eight eliminated” was a thread on NP1. This looks like a good place to post to continue.
      – #190 Liechtenstein out;
      – #180 Kosovo out;
      – #159 Moldova out;
      – #136 Luxembourg out;
      – #131 Latvia out;
      – #129 Andorra out;
      – #105 Kazakhstan out;
      – #99 Lithuania out;

      As always, there are some wonderful youtube replays available but I can’t post the link in this new NP2 web site. Previous updates and great videos of earlier world cup qualifiers are, sadly, lost on the original NP site.
      Probably the biggest upset victory from this group of eight was Andorra’s 1-0 win over Bulgaria in the round robin stage.
