MLS Referee comes out
Matt Nelson, who has worked as a professional soccer referee since 2012, came out as gay this past summer. Nelson penned an article this week describing his decision to tell his friends and family and later post on social media. Nelson has found he has since been able to focus more on performing as a referee to the best of his ability and hopes in sharing his story others will help others.

Montreal lost at home to NYCFC 0-1. The Impact have not won at home since August 19.
DC United scored a late equalizer in extra time to draw on the road against New York Red Bulls 3-3.
Orlando City won big at home against New England Revolution 6-1.
FC Dallas ended its winless streak at home defeating Colorado Rapids 2-0. Dallas scored both of its two goals within the first 10 minutes.
Houston Dynamo drew at home to LA Galaxy 3-3. Alberth Elis scored two goals in the 84th and 88th minute to bring Houston level.
Chicago Fire won on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes 4-1.
Seattle Sounders won at home against the Vancouver Whitecaps, 3-0. Goalkeeper Stefan Frei earned his 11th clean sheet of the season, a career high for Frei.
Atlanta United clinched a playoff birth in its first season in MLS, defeating Philadelphia Union 3-0 at home. Atlanta is the first expansion team to qualify for the playoffs since the Seattle Sounders in 2009.
