In this week’s recap of Minnesotans playing outside of the state: Östersunds DFF are officially relegated while Kolander sees limited time.
A 2-1 loss to Sundsvalls DFF doomed Östersunds DFF to drop to the third division. ÖDFF started the game off strong and took the lead in the 8th minute. The scoreline held until the second half. Once again missing Tarah Hobbs in the gameday roster, ÖDFF conceded two goals in the last 30 minutes. Josee Stiever went the distance, but couldn’t help get her team back into the game.
Despite AC Sparta Praha playing twice during the week, Simone Kolander barely made it on the field. In a 2-2 draw with rival SK Slavia Praha, the forward entered the game after the 90th minute. Despite the limited time, Kolander did make two runs forward with the ball, but couldn’t turn either into scoring chances.
Four days later Sparta Praha hosted Linköpings FC in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. Kolander was on the bench once more, but the coach did not make one sub during the 1-1 draw. The second leg takes place next week.
Mukwelle Akale did not feature for Villarreal C in a 2-2 draw with Recambios Colón.
Calum Mallace was not in the 18 for Seattle Sounders FC in a 2-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
