In this week’s recap of Minnesotans playing professionally outside of the state: Villarreal C struggle down the stretch while Bunbury’s run comes to an end.
It took five games, but Jackson Yueill made his first start of the season and he rewarded the decision. The midfielder went the full 90 for the San Jose Earthquakes in a 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamo. In the 25th minute Yueill earned his second career assist by setting up Magnus Eriksson for the opening goal. He nearly added a second before halftime, but the keeper made the save.
The balance. The placement. The power.

Despite a couple of headed chances, Teal Bunbury did not extend his scoring streak. The forward went 76 minutes for the New England Revolution in a 1-0 loss to FC Dallas. He set up a couple of opportunities for the Revs, but none found the back of the net.
Cody Cropper is back in training with New England after suffering from a concussion. Matt Turner continues to put in solid performances, so a bench role is probably the best Cropper can hope for. It would not be a surprise to see him traded before the window closes May 1st.
Villarreal CF C suffered a 3-1 defeat to 2nd place Orihuela CF this weekend. Mukwelle Akale went the full 90 and essentially assisted in the team’s only goal. Akale sent a corner into the box where it found the head of Jack Ipalibo. The keeper made the initial save, but Ipalibo put the rebound away. With five games left in the season Villarreal is sitting 11 points out of a playoff spot.
Eric Miller has not returned to full practice yet and missed the Colorado Rapids’ 2-0 win over Toronto FC.
Calum Mallace did not make the roster for LAFC’s 2-0 win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. His last MLS appearance was July 22nd of last year.
Andrew Kendall-Moullin and Atlanta United 2 did not have a game this weekend.
