Minnesotan youngster signs with Villareal
Mukwelle Akale, a 21-year-old from Minnesota, has signed a two-year extension with Villarreal in La Liga. He has not yet made an appearance for the senior team, but has been progressing through the ranks. FiftyFive. One featured Akale back in 2016. Akale spent 2017-18 with Villarreal C, and appears regularly in our MN Migration.
Loons draw with SKC
Minnesota United FC drew 1-1 with Sporting Kansas City over the weekend. SKC was decidedly the superior team and deserves its place atop the Western Conference. That Minnesota was able to gain a point against the leaders and hold them to one goal bodes well. That Francisco Calvo’s mark was the scorer again does not bode well.
Matt Doyle noted United’s accomplishment in his Armchair Analyst segment. He also noted Ibarra’s decreased effectiveness after defenders keyed in on him. Doyle also notes that Minnesota will need to win at home, rather than merely draw, if the Loons hope to make the playoffs.
