Minnesota United FC confirms My29 will be local broadcast partner
It’s great news for those people in the metro area as any non-nationally broadcast game will be on over-the-air channel My29. In addition to being shown on TV, the broadcast will be simulcast on 1500 ESPN.
For long time fans, this was probably the most exciting piece of news:
“Long-time soccer announcer Chris Lidholm will be the studio host for pre-match, half time and post-match for all matches on 1500 ESPN. Lidholm has been commentating on soccer matches in Minnesota for more than 20 years, and was the club’s television play-by-play announcer from 2010 to 2016.”
It’s great to see Lidholm provided with the opportunity to continue talking about MNUFC on air after being replaced as its play-by-play announcer.

No real surprises with whom head coach Adrian Heath has brought to Portland. Can’t wait to see this team take the field for the first time as an MLS side.
Loon call (news bits for Minnesota United FC)
- Heath creates a different kind of culture around his teams, per Andy Greder.
- Greder also has a nice feature on captain Vadim Demidov.
- The Loons are paying around $1 million to rent TCF Bank Stadium, which is much less than the Vikings paid to rent the stadium.
- The Star Tribune has a field guide to Minnesota’s first season.
- American Soccer Analysis has a slightly more analytical take on how Minnesota will perform this season.
- MinnPost asks an entirely reasonable question: “Can the Twin Cities support another pro sports franchise?“
Wide world of soccer
- Former, and hopefully future Loon Jeb Brovsky has a interesting take on the trials and tribulations of an expansion side.
- NWSL commish Jeff Plush has stepped down.
