News in Brief: Minnesota United Kits, Jake Swallen signs with Wake Forest, and More

    Minnesota United FC news

Matthew Doyle took a look at Minnesota United FC’s 2017 season, including the dismal start and subsequent improvement. Ultimately, the Loons don’t need a designated player to succeed in attack, Doyle says, but the team does need to sort itself out at the back end.

In the meantime, Minnesota United FC also made official the new primary kit for the 2018 season.

I’m about 80% sure that I like the kit. I’m not normally a fan of vertical stripes. But what I like about the Loons kit is that the stripes are subtle enough to be interesting close-up, but mainly just texture from far away. I would’ve liked to see the greys about 10-15% darker, but I can live with it. I’m glad we’re playing in grey, because it really is quite unique, very few teams around the world play in grey.

I would rather see the target logo in red. I have this fantasy of a loon head on the jersey with the Target logo as its eye.
