US Soccer announced a women’s national team friendly for October 23rd against Switzerland to be played in the brand-new US Bank Stadium.
For the first time in over a decade, the US national team returns to Minnesota to play soccer. The US women last played in Minnesota on July 15, 2006 against Sweden at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN. Despite this long gap, the women have played in Blaine more times than any other US city.
This time around, the US will be playing in US Bank Stadium, which opened its gates earlier this summer. The first event held in the new Vikings stadium was the Chelsea v AC Milan friendly that boasted a sold-out crowd of 64,101.
The US will face off against Switzerland just four days after playing against the Swiss team in Salt Lake City. They will also be hosting a “four-day Girls’ Fantasy Camp” from October 21-24.
The match will be played at 12:45 p.m. Central Time and tickets go on sale Monday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. CT.
