Shaky start, but hey, we didn’t give up the first goal until minute 8. Isn’t that double the last match? (just kidding – that was a terrible start) I’m just thankful that Piatti played a poor PK and Bobby and company dispatched it quickly. Dzemaili nailed that second goal and it was a bit nervy again. However; the boys pushed through, found the equalizer and the winner. If Finlay has found Danladi instead of firing, we would have put it away earlier.
Martin started rough but evened out and put in a decent shift. He needs more games to develop a better rapport with the others. His touch is solid and he moves fairly well, but he struggled to hit the properly weighted pass. His initial card seemed to put him on the defensive and he seemed to settle into the game better afterwards.
Goals from both strikers is awesome as was finishing the PK cleanly. We seemed to transition a bit better tonight. I’m not sure what defensive adjustments need to be made, but on that first goal, there were 8 of our guys on the wrong side of the play in the box. 7 of them are in a line that once breached left 3 Montreal players to 1 Bobby Shuttleworth. That’s an absolute lack of any type of marking or defensive awareness. It’s on the left back side and we seem to drift to the middle and forget to mark the guys on the back side. It’s infuriating.
I’ll take the 2nd road win, even in all it’s ugliness. We kicked Montreal out of contention and maybe we can damage Dallas’s hopes too. I’ll take playing the spoiler with an eye towards a much brighter 2018 season.

“We seemed to transition a bit better tonight” – i.e. Ibson had a good game.

This is the biggest issue heading in to 2018: An older midfielder who could break down (or give up) at any moment is our entire ‘engine room’.

when goals are scored, callum is ok. the rest of the game… TAKE THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR MOUTH, STOP MUMBLING, AND GIVE SOME CLEAR & INTELLIGIBLE PLAY-BY-PLAY!!! sorry.. he’s got to go.

I know I know I know, annoying to find the negative in Abu’s game, but he really needs to figure out how to stay onside. Right before his wonder strike, on the play where Finlay was sprung, Abu’s run takes him offsides! Gah! Finlay couldn’t have passed it had he wanted to. If he’s not careful, he’ll be the 2nd coming of Roy Lassiter.
