In this week’s recap of Minnesotans playing professionally: a limited week of action sees Miller help keep Colorado undefeated at home while Bunbury can’t prevent US Open Cup loss.
Eric Miller made his 50th appearance in MLS in the Colorado Rapids’ 0-0 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes. The game marked Miller’s seventh consecutive start and the team’s 12th shutout. Miller played the full 90 at right back while having one of his more consistent offensive performances completing 35/41 passes including going 2/3 on crossing. Miller also finished the game with five recoveries, four interceptions, and two clearances.
After losing the U.S. Open Cup final to FC Dallas on Tuesday, the New England Revolution looked to rebound against the Montreal Impact during the weekend. Teal Bunbury was on the bench for the start of the game despite earning an assist as a second half sub against Dallas. Bunbury did enter in the 82nd minute, but he wasn’t really needed as the Revs took an early lead and held on to win 3-1. Both Cody Cropper and Calum Mallace were available as substitutes but did not see time.
Tyler David was a second half substitute in Saint Louis FC’s 5-1 loss to Louisville City FC. The scoreline was already 4-1 when David entered the game and there was little he could do to prevent St. Louis from suffering their second worst defeat of the season and eliminating them from the playoffs.
In Spain, Mukwelle Akale played the full 90 for Villarreal C in a 1-1 draw with CD Almazora. Villarreal fell behind early in the first half, but were able to pull level in the 82nd minute. Villarreal C are undefeated in six games to start the season.
Kassey Kallman and Cat Parkhill did not play this week because the NWSL is on an international break.
