Play of the week
No, not that one. PRO’s Play of the Week for week 20 of the MLS season is from Minnesota’s matchup against New York Red Bulls last Saturday. The supporters filled the stadium with a rendition of a popular chant with new words: “We want video replay! Hey! We want video replay right now.” Here’s PRO’s take on how it would have gone down with video assistant refereeing (VAR) in place. VAR will be in place at all MLS league games starting Aug. 5.
California coachin’
LA Galaxy fired head coach Curt Onalfo and put Sigi Schmid in his place in one fell swoop. The change went into effect immediately and Schmid will be at the helm when the Galaxy face his former club, the Seattle Sounders, this weekend.
Meanwhile, LAFC has named Bob Bradley as its first coach.
