The Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle Sounders battled all game long with no score. It was a bit of a grind, featuring the lowest “expected goals” total of all 379 MLS games this year. Stefan Frei came up huge for Seattle, keeping the 0-0 scoreline with some late saves. The second leg will be played on Thursday.
The Minnesota State High School League tournament has begun, with both Girls’ Class A and Class AA and Boys’ Class A and Class AA brackets in progress. The teams involved include the thus-far unbeaten Orono Girls’ team. Orono saw the vast majority of its lineup change last season, as Nate Gotlieb tells us at the MN Soccer Hub.
