November: the season of partisan voting. But if this is an off-year election season, no one told Minneapolis City SC, who are holding its second important vote to shape its image in 2018. The voting runs until November 22nd.
Currently, members are voting on primary and secondary kit designs. The primary kit options retain the strict black and white of City’s previous primary designs. Most notably among the options is the second choice, which includes a design that calls out the iconic Martin Olav Sabo Bridge in South Minneapolis.
The secondary kit options once again feature hot pink. Whereas the kits in the past were relatively simple, this year’s options include stripes: vertical, horizontal, and Paul Bunyan.
Minneapolis City co-founder, Dan Hoedeman, explained the proliferation of votes this offseason: “A big part of why we wanted to do this was because, at launch, we didn’t have the member base to get input on crest, kit, etc. This is the chance to do that and really make the club’s appearance owned by the members. It’s also a lot of fun.”
For the first time, the kits will be produced by Stimulus Athletic, a local company run by former Minnesota United FC player Geison Moura.
This is the third off-season vote the Crows have held as they recently just redesigned their logo. That decision was made from a vote of members and for the first time a crow was incorporated into the design.
