News in Brief: Mallory Pugh Signs With Washington, and More

    USWNT star signs with Washington

USWNT and former UCLA phenom Mallory Pugh has signed her first professional contract with the Washington Spirit. The winger went against the norm when she declared she would be leaving UCLA after her freshman season. Usually, women’s players will stay for all four years of college eligibility. According to SI’s Grant Wahl, Pugh was coveted by French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais. Wahl also noted that Washington was not Pugh’s first choice club in the NWSL. Pugh wanted to sign with the Portland Thorns.

LA Galaxy defender to miss match against Minnesota

Galaxy right back Bradley Diallo received a red card in the 90th minute while playing against the New York Red Bulls. Head coach Curt Onalfo will have to field a makeshift back line when his team visits TCF Bank Stadium. Friendly reminder: the last time Miguel Ibarra played across from a backup right back he earned a starting spot in the MLS Team of the Week.

    News bits

    • This past Saturday, former Loons captain Aaron Pitchkolan reached an NASL milestone.

    • NWSL Non-Allocated Players announced the formation of a players association.
    • Med City FC welcomed 1,500 fans to its inaugural NPSL home match, which meant a lot of autographs for Med City captain Midhat Mujic.

Can’t blame it on the jelly

Okay, so I'm glad to say it is now official. The greatest own-goal of all time has been scored. https://t.co/1rL3sPmn72

Own goal or not, that bicycle was fantastic.

I wish the Laing situation wasn’t as shitty as it was between him & Craig. I would have love to see him as an option off of our bench. I feel like he would have been as good of an option as Kadrii, maybe even better.

I’m not sure it was just between him and Craig. I think it was more: not the biggest fish problem.
