Report: Kadrii’s Contract Terminated, Transferring to Randers

Update: Tips Bladet reports that Minnesota United loanee Bashkim Kadrii has had his loan contract terminated. He is set to sign with Danish club Randers, pending a medical.

The Danish news outlet Ekstra Bladet reports today that two Danish clubs, Randers FC and SønderjyskE Fodbold are looking to sign Bashkim Kadrii from F.C. Copenhagen. Kadrii is currently on loan to Minnesota United until the end of the season, but the club has been actively looking to offload him.

Kadrii has made a total of 11 appearances while on loan, but rarely broke into the starting XI. He last played for the club on July 20, when he was replaced at the half. In the last week, Kadrii was absent from training and returned to Denmark.

The 26-year-old winger does not seem to have a place at F.C. Copenhagen and so, to end the loan early, Kadrii will need another option lined up. Randers FC appear to be leading the chase right now.

Kadrii was part of the large cohort of Scandinavian players signed for Minnesota United FC’s inaugural MLS season. Of those players, only former captain Vadim Demidov is still at the club (Rasmus Schüller is out on loan with the Finnish club, Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi).

Our unofficial Danish correspondent Henrik Loenne brought this news to our attention.

According to @tipsbladet he going through his medical so the announcement could come any moment now.

Does Demidov practice with the club? I know he is not a starter, but is he really that awful that he can’t stand in the middle of the field and pass the ball (a job that doesn’t require running or shooting or playing defense)?

I have the same question. The highest salary on the team, and he isn’t even good enough to make the bench. That must be embarrassing for Manny.

Man, I remember being so excited about the signing. And Schuller’s signing. Sucks that none of the Scandinavian signings worked out.

Of Gatt, Kadrii, Alvbage, Schuller and Demidov — which had the best MNUFC career? I’d go with Kadrii because of the goal in the friendly.

As an Aston Villa supporter, failed signings are a common sight in Premier and Championship leagues. I don’t see this as unsual or unexpected for MNUFC, especially since this is our first year up a division. AVFC is still churning through starters at the same rate, if not worse, then MNUFC. Granted, AVFC is fighting for promotion back to Premier league and their fan base has higher expectations. As long as our starting XI are getting better as the season progresses, and they are, should we be getting more confident and pleased that we’re jettisoning these “misses”?

The Richards comment is hilarious! Yes, I am in MN and go to every MNUFC game. First row, section 138. I’m at Surly before every game as well. We should drown in our championship league sorrows. UTV!

I’m in supporter’s section. I usually come in through Stadium Village and march with the Dark Clouds. Are you on the Aston Villa America FB group?

I hope Kadrii lands in a good place. He had a wicked powerful distance shot he displayed a few times. I think he was intended as a secondary striker and our scheme didn’t use that. With Danladi improving and Ramirez returning along with our dearth of wingers, this move frees up an international spot that e can use for a starter instead of a backup. The only other spot he could have been used is as a #10. With Heath’s desire to make Molino the #10, if Kadrii wasn’t a good option at the #10 spot, there wasn’t a role for him to fill. Heath seems to prefer 90 minute players and I’m guessing Kadrii didn’t fit that either. It’s a good move for the team and I’m being it will be better for Kadrii in the long run. Farewell sir!
