Minnesota roster developing…. slowly
With the arms race of players in MLS, Minnesota has a lot of work to do to become competitive in the league. With all three DP slots open and an international roster spot possibly opening soon, Manny Lagos spoke on when fans can expect the signings. Namely, they’ll happen on the team’s schedule. Lagos pointed to the investment in training facilities and Allianz Stadium as signs of the owners’ dedication to properly fund the club. Lagos also commented on the Loons’ two new signings: Tyrone Mears and Harrison Heath.
FIFA corruption connects Fox to South America
The Guardian reports that Rupert Murdoch and Fox allegedly bribed South American officials to secure broadcasting rights. This revelation comes as a part of the ongoing FIFA trials in New York. In fact, the South American companies involved are also involved in separate litigation, also ongoing.
Alejandro Burzaco, the man making the accusation, has already plead guilty to racketeering, wire fraud, and money laundering. He has been assisting U.S. prosecutors during their investigation.
Sam Kerr: hat trick hero
Sam Kerr, former star for the Western New York Flash and Sky Blue FC, currently plies her trade for Perth Glory in the Australian W-league. She has been stellar this season, a superstar at just 24 years old.
In a match against the 2nd-place Newcastle Jets, Kerr put her team on her back and scored 3 goals in just 9 minutes. The first, in the 79th minute, put her team level with Newcastle. The second gave Perth the lead, but the game was leveled just one minute later. Kerr’s final tally again gave the Glory the advantage, but a 90th-minute goal for Newcastle meant the teams shared the points. Perth sits in first place in the league on goal differential.
