Dark Clouds Season Ticket Prices to Jump 28% for MLS

On Tuesday, members of the Dark Clouds (and some from True North Elite) gathered at the Summit Beer Hall for a Mid-Season Assembly to discuss plans for the rest of the 2016 season and look ahead to 2017. At the event, Minnesota United’s Director of Ticket Sales, Sean Sittnick, announced a 28% increase in ticket prices for supporters.

Sittnick unveiled the new price for the Dark Clouds’ section tickets of $360 for 18 matches (this price includes the Dark Clouds membership). Previously, Dark Clouds paid around $15.63 per match (both numbers are “early bird” prices). This pricing comes ahead of the complete stadium pricing announcement expected in early October and is currently projected as the second cheapest priced section in the stadium.

The new supporters section (including both Dark Clouds and True North Elite) at TCF Bank Stadium will be located in the lower bowl of the East end line, in what is normally the student section.

Further details, including tailgating, transit, capacity, and pricing for other sections, are still being ironed out and will be announced at a later date.

Dark Clouds president Jim Oliver discussed opportunities to get involved with gameday operations, tifo creation, and Silver Lining opportunities (the group’s charity events). DC board member Abe Opoti stressed that these opportunities are open to all supporters of the Loons, especially as the groups move towards standing together at TCF Bank Stadium.

Upcoming Dark Clouds’ events discussed include:

    • Sept. 23 – Gameday Operations Meeting – Any Loons supporters looking to get involved in all things gameday can meet at the Summit Beer Hall to find out more details.
    • Oct. 7-9 – Itasca Hostel Takeover – Join the Dark Clouds at Itasca State Park for some camping, grilling, and a MNUFCvPRFC watch party
    • Oct. 8 – Dark Clouds over Puerto Rico – Make the trip to Puerto Rico to watch the one and only away MN United match on the island.
    • Late Feb. – Silver Lining trip to Haiti – Travel to Haiti for a week to serve in a variety of ways. More details to come.

Update: the original version of this story mistakenly indicated that the new season ticket prices would be the second cheapest in the league. This has been corrected.

As Wes pointed out on twitter, if you take the Dethloon to the games, this actually represents a decrease in the expenditure/match

How much of this increase can we think of as going to get D1 referee assignments?
