News in Brief: Minnesota United’s First Unified Team and More

Minnesota United announce unified team with Special Olympics

In a press release Monday, Minnesota United FC and Special Olympics MN announced the creation of the first official Minnesota United Unified Team. Eleven athletes were selected to play two matches against Houston Dynamo’s Unified Team. The first match will take place at TCF Bank Stadium on July 19. The reverse fixture will take place at BBVA Compass Stadium on September 20.

United head coach Ben Olsen was suspended and fined last season for almost the same thing Heath did. Heath himself was suspended last season while coaching Orlando. MLS has not yet disciplined Heath for the infraction.

Luckily for Klinsmann and the Baby Nats, Fulham youngster Luca de la Torre scored a late equalizer to rescue a point [full highlights].
